"Al's Moustache" is the sophomore 7-inch from Higher Giant. It's also pretty damn rockin', and one of those records that really feels like a fresh breeze. I don't mean fresh in a "it's never been done before"-way, it's just that this kind of pop punk always makes me feel good. Really good.
If you're a fan of The Bouncing Souls or Lifetime this record should be right up your alley. In fact, Dave Wagenshutz, who used to play the drums in Lifetime, is in this band. He also used to be in a bunch of other well-known bands, just like the rest of Higher Giant, but let's keep this short and to the point. Name-dropping in this case would take a while and I'm in a hurry.
"See you Later Chopstick", a mid tempo east-coast-smelling anthem, opens up the record and sets the tone. Probably a live-show favorite, this tune will have you singing along in no time. What follows on the remaining three tracks is equally good. If these guys wrote a book it'd probably be called
"How To Compose & Perform Awesome Pop Punk Anthems - 101". Solid stuff!
Record Nerd Notes:
Available on three colors: Red /225, Yellow /275 & Orange /500.
