These Ninjas are rather new to me and I don't really know that much about them. What I do know is that their latest record "Restless Rubes" is pretty good. It's a well-crafted album with twelve thoughtful songs that all together makes up a very even and, in a good way, easy-listened record. The music is best described as powerpop with a southern rock edge to it. The band's sound is basic but still warm and at times atmospheric in a way. You basically get a good feeling about the band from the start.
My favorite tracks off the album are "Darwin was a Baptist" which has a lot of likeable hooks and the acoustic "Front Yard Screamers". But it really is in its full that "Restless Rubes" can be truly enjoyed.
Packed with interesting songwriting and a lot of charm "Restless Rubes" would probably be appreciated by most music loving people. I will definitely be listening to this record for a while and stay on the lookout for new stuff from these southern fellas. Nice work.
