One of my favorite indie/rock bands are back with a new record called "Gasp Asp", a 7" which feels like perfect follow-up to their previous releases. Look Mexico's song-writing has gotten even better and the dynamics of the band's sound is more present than ever. This step forward might have something to do with the quintet spending a lot of their time touring, which naturally makes bands grow tighter. With this new 7" the band sounds more unique than before and it's my favorite set of songs from Look Mexico so far.
"You're Not Afraid of the Dark, Are You?" is the my favorite song off the record, on which the band has brought in a cello and a violin adding even more dynamics and life to the music. I'd recommend this one to anyone with good taste in music and/or art for that matter. This 7" has a beautiful cover with illustrations by Sharkguts.
