Dangerous Intersections is a nice little 7-inch series put out by the good people at Traffic Street Records. This one, volume 2, has four bands on it and they're all contributing with good tunes. Basement Black gets the honor of opening the record up and they do it pretty good. I haven't heard these guys before but their down-tempo "Freedom or Beer... Whatever, Dude" works as a fine introduction and I'm liking what I hear. A sad little anthem and a good start of the record. Dead Mechanical is up next and they pick the speed up a notch with their tune "Poison Bearer". It's still a little slow but I really like it. Based in Baltimore this three-piece have more hooks in their song than Basement Black which mixes it all up nicely.
I'm really into the A-side, but if you ask me side B is what really makes this 7" worth buying. First out is Pretty Boy Thorson & The Falling Angels, yet another new band to me but one I will definitely be looking up. "Start Me On Interferon" is an awesome tune with somewhat of an alt-country vibe to it. I really dig this one! Last but definitely not least one of my absolute favorites - yeah I know, I talk about this band all the time - The Measure (SA). As usual the band rules with their signature folky punk rock. "How To Thrash A Million", also available on the band's 12" on Don Giovanni Records, brings some speed to the 7" and works as a perfect ending of a perfectly put together compilation. Good job Traffic Street!
