Victorian Halls "s/t"CDEP Release: 2009 by: Unsigned Review: March 28th, 2009 I'm gonna be completely honest here. I haven't listened to this whole CD. I tried but I had to turn it off. The vocals made my head hurt after only two songs and I just couldn't take it anymore. For a little while I though a girl was singing but as I tried to track down some info on the release it turned out to be a guy. Sounds like a girl though. Victorian Halls are from Chicago and sounds like they're on speed. I'm not sure of how to explain the band's sound but it's a mix of MTV pop punk and fast carnival/cabaret music. I hate MTV "punk" and I pretty much hate cabaret music as well. Not many bands can handle a "carnival" sound and I can only think of one band that are able actually to do it and that would be the World/Inferno Friendship Society. Maybe I just don't get it and maybe I'm too old, but I think this record sucks big time. / Christer Davidsson, MUTINYZINE.COM |
