THE BRIGGS | "COME ALL YOU MADMEN"

I think The Briggs are an ok band. I can't really say that I listen to them on a regular basis but I think they're good at what they do. It's hard to stand out from the rest when you're playing this type of punk but The Briggs are, as far as I know, considered to be one of the more acknowledged bands in the genre. However they still have a few steps left to take before they can compete with the Dropkick Murphys or the classic early Rancid records.
Over all "Come All You Madmen" is kind of a typical street punk rock record packed with sing-along anthems and folkish influences. My favorite songs on the album are "This is L.A.", in which the band pays homeage to their beloved hometown, and the irish sounding opening track "Mad Man" which features Ken Casey from Dropkick Murphys on additional vocals.
"Come All You Madmen" is The Briggs' 4th record and it was produced by The Mighty Mighty Bosstones' Dicky Barrett. Apart from Casey and Barrett the record also features an appearence by Brian Baker (Bad Religion, Minor Threat). For fans of the genre this album is definitely worth checking out and I'll probably give it a few spins myself over these next few weeks.
