"Year of the Rabbit" is a two song indie 7" from the Michigan 4-piece Empire! Empire! It's on white vinyl, and it's limited to 550 copies. So, should you get it? Well if you like slow, heartfelt melodies backin' up a vocalist with a great sincere voice, then you should. It's has sort of a 90's emo touch to it which is cool.
Personally I like the first song a lot. That one is a bit more balanced and has a better melody than the b-side. The other one has a backing vocal that disturbs me a little bit and pretty much takes the attention from the actual song.
I think this band could go a long way if they stick to this sound. I think a lot of people can like this stuff. Personally I like to give these kinds of bands a listen every now and then as a break from all the up-beat music that is constantly playing at the Mutinyzine headquarters. It's good for my ears.
The band also have a full-length out which you might wanna look up because this 7" is a bit too short. Anyway, it's good.
