GLASS AND ASHES | "SELF TITLED"
CD (Digipak) /LP | No Idea Records Reviewed: June 9th, 2008 As far as I'm concerned Glass And Ashes is the band that sticks out the most in the No Idea roster. These guys are way more aggressive than most of their label mates. And they're good at it. Good as hell! However, there's still a lot of that No Idea feeling on this recording which is very nice. I don't really know a lot about these guys, but I know that a lot of people really respect Glass And Ashes and I know they have influenced tons of bands out there. I can see why. This band play innovative music, well rooted in hardcore, with thoughtful lyrics and a lot of energy. My favorite track off of this new record is "Alpha State" which is a 5 minute masterpiece. Normally I hate long songs but with Glass And Ashes I don't even think about that stuff. This is a "big" record and atmospheric to say the least. A few extra minutes here and there just makes this one a record that grows with time. Records that grows with time rule, and so does Glass And Ashes. I think I've found myself a new favorite band. Phenomenal! /Christer Davidsson, MUTINYZINE.COM |
