THE TIM VERSION |
"DECLINE OF THE SOUTHERN GENTLEMAN" CD (Digipak) /LP | No Idea Records Reviewed: June 9th, 2008 Ok, first review of June 2008! I should have reviewed this a while ago but I've been busy as hell. Anyway, here it is... First of all The Tim Version rules, that's a fact! I had never heard this band before this record, but damn, I'm impressed! These guys are on No Idea so I pretty much expected it to rock and naturally it did. "Decline of the Southern Gentleman" is harsh, rockin' and most of all it's played with a lot of heart. When you buy this (and you should!) you'll get 12 songs of fine Gainesville style punk rock with tons of smart hooks and adrenaline. At times The Tim Version takes a step back and slows down a bit which gives the record a folkish touch, which is just how I like it. The press note that came along with the album has the following line in it: "Some get their therapy from the comforts of drinking and drugs, some get it from creative pursuits. The Tim Version are veterans at both". I think that pretty much sums it up. Now, go get it!! /Christer Davidsson, MUTINYZINE.COM |
